For the first time playing a female warrior truly feels like a challenge because you need to be 20+ levels above your male counterpart to be equally strong and agile, which is realistic and immersive. So far I love every single decision the Viking Conquest developer has made over Warband.

I haven't really read the reviews to avoid spoilers but I am guessing these reasons count among those because I've seen these in other game reviews. Praising the variety when they only build armies made of one troop type, calling it inflexible when character builds are made more realistic and engaging, calling it restrictive when the game presents more meaningful challenges and merits of choices and consequences. They are entitled to their opinion, of course, but too many people seem to judge a game with such as shallow scope that refuses to evaluate a game beyond the surface and the number of available features regardless of how broken they are. Then why criticize wF&S for lack of troop variety when it in fact forces players to utilize more various types of troops? It often came down to 3 troops because the balance is horrible in Warband and most players know it, too. In the end like 2/3 of the youtubers I've seen playing warband went with 100% Swadian knight composition on field and Rhodok crossbow & Huscarls on sieges. No, you don't get more variety with more troop tiers and types unless they are balanced. I'm dumbfounded when people cite the variety for a reason Warband is better. It lacked marriage, custom kingdom, and tournaments, but it refined the game in many aspects for the better, ultimately making it a better game, which also can be said for Viking Conquest in relation to wF&S it refined and developed the game even further. I believe wF&S was also superior to Warband.
#Mount and blade viking conquest review mods
The only edge Warband has over this is availability of mods and the number of people on MP, as with wF&S. I've played 50 hours of this game so far and I think it is far, far superior to Warband. I don't understand why, especially after its bugs were mostly patched. The steam review for viking conquest is mixed with almost half the reviewers calling it bad it's the same for all time or last 30 days.
